Yet another Arab-on-Israeli stabbing this morning, and the attacker is again a child; a girl too young to vote or drive a car and armed with whatever came to hand - in her case, a screwdriver. Her victim has relatively mild injuries. The attacker was fended off by armed soldiers, and was shot.

Today's attack was at the entrance to Mevo Dotan, a community established in 1977 in the northern Samaria district and located about 40 kilometers due east of Hadera. Much - though not all - of the stabbing attack and its aftermath was captured on security camera video and has been uploaded for viewing on YouTube.

The attacker is initially reported to be a girl of 16 from Ya'bad, now fighting for her life in an Israeli hospital where her injuries are said to be critical. Ya'bad is where Izz ad-Din al-Qassam - a terrorist whose name is memorialized in a Hamas jihad unit - along with several of his men was killed by British forces in a cave nearby in 1935. (But we see that a different Arab media source [here] describes her as "said to be in her twenties", and does not give her name.)

The girl's victim is a young Israeli of 20, serving his compulsory IDF tour of duty. His injuries are being treated in that same Israeli hospital.

From Times of Israel's report:

Closed circuit video footage from the settlement shows the assailant walking calmly up to the front gate, before she goes out of frame. A few moments later, she can be seen running from the scene with one uniformed soldier and an armed off-duty soldier in pursuit. The moment the assailant was shot does not appear in the footage... The soldier, who is approximately 20 years old, was taken to Hadera’s Hillel Yaffe hospital for treatment, Magen David Adom said. He suffered a stab wound to the upper body, medics said. The assailant received first aid on the scene, before also being taken to Hillel Yaffe for treatment, the medics said.

Haaretz, quoting Palestinian Arab sources, says the attacker is Nof Ikab Abed al-Afar, age 16, from the nearby town of Ya'bad:

Afar arrived at the Mevo Dotan guard post, where she approached a soldier and stabbed him. She was then shot. Local settlers said that the she approached the gate to the settlement, carrying on even after a soldier at the post demanded that she stay away. 

The Arab media outlet Ma'an News Agency, adopting a familiar approach (allegedly), reports on "the alleged assailant" who "allegedly carried out a stabbing" and the security camera footage that "allegedly showed" whatever it showed. Then the editors get to their point:

Activists, and rights groups have denounced what they have termed a "shoot-to-kill" policy against Palestinians who did not constitute a threat at the time of their death, or who could have been subdued in a non-lethal manner... [Ma'an News Agency]

For a full-time, lavishly-funded (to a great extent by European governments, meaning in reality unwitting European taxpayers) news-gathering organization, they're rarely sure about anything at Ma'an when it comes to terror attacks on Israelis - except for being consistently certain that the Israeli reaction - usually while under actual frenzied attack by an armed, murder-minded Arab - was disproportionate and that whatever the Arabs did (allegedly) was no threat to anyone.

As for reporting on the real story here - the way school-age Palestinian Arab children keep appearing in these Arab-on-Israeli attack reports as the perpetrators - Ma'an is totally oblivious along with all of the Arab news organizations that we see and a large part of the mainstream non-Arab news companies.

Politely looking the other way as children are groomed to murder and be killed is a very large part of the reason why this horrifying reality keeps happening.

18-Apr-16: For the jihadists of Hamas, planting bombs on Israeli buses is something to sing about

The Islamist terror organization Hamas has praised this afternoon's attack on a Jerusalem city bus. But so far, at least, it has taken no credit for carrying it out.

Hamas praised the attack on the bus in Jerusalem but doesn't claim responsibility in a tweet from the official Hamas twitter account, The tweet in Arabic said "Hamas praises the operation in Jerusalem, and regards it as a natural reaction to Zionist crimes, specifically for the extrajudicial killings and the desecration of Al-Aqsa mosque." Hamas' bashfulness is a little too disingenuous for its own blood-soaked history and track-record of savagery.

For instance, just six weeks ago, Hamas began promoting a music video [online here] in which a group of its singing-and-dancing all-stars parade in front of a bus made up (poorly) to look like it belongs to Egged, the veteran Israeli co-operative that operates most of Jerusalem's city buses. The Hamas mock-up is smoking and is meant to look it has been freshly exploded.

The Hamas video clip was first shown to an eager Palestinian Arab audience on the Hamas-operated Al-Aqsa satellite television network on February 6, 2016, and then beamed throughout the Arabic-speaking world via a multitude of streaming-video websites and cable networks that carry the terrorism-steeped Al-Aqsa programming.

Twenty-two years ago, almost to the day, in April 1994, Hamas carried out two bombing attacks on Israeli buses, one in the northern city of Afula (8 murdered, 55 victims injured) and another in the northern coastal city of Hadera, a week later (six killed, 30 injured). Murderous Hamas bombings of people traveling on Israeli buses evolved into an especially effective mode of jihadist warfare in the years that followed [table].

There has been yet another knifing attack on Israelis this evening. And again it turns out to be the cruel and sadistic work of an Arab citizen of our country.

As Times of Israel reported tonight (Sunday) around 7:00 pm,

Four Israelis were wounded Sunday evening in a knife attack on Route 65 at the entrance to the kibbutz of Gan Shmuel, near the northern city of Hadera. One of the four, a 19-year-old woman, is in serious condition. [Times of Israel, October 11, 2015]

An Israeli Arab man, said to be about 20, from Umm al-Fahm ("mother of charcoal" in Arabic, a reminder of the forests that used to be part of the nearby landscape), a city of some 50,000, virtually all of them Arabs, and almost all holding Israeli citizenship, carried out the attack. His city is part of the region Israelis call the Wadi Ara Triangle, and usually just The Triangle, Hameshulash. Other major communities in the Triangle are Kafr Qara, Ar'ara, Baqa-Jatt, Qalansawe, Tayibe, Kafr Qassem, Tira, Kafr Bara and Jaljulia.

Tonight's barbarism began with him driving his car - a low-slung, bright yellow vehicle of the sort often associated with young men in this country - into a small cluster of Israelis standing at a bus shelter on Route 65, hitting an as-yet-unnamed 19-year-old woman, and running her over. (There are reports she was wearing army uniform - presumably because like most youngsters of her age she was in the midst of her national service.) He emerged from the car then with a knife, and launched a vicious stabbing attack on the injured woman and on three other waiting commuters. The young woman is now in Hadera's Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in serious condition with multiple injuries including stab wounds to the head (!) and upper part of her body.

His other victims also reflected a carefully articulated political statement. In order to show how much, how really much, he and his fellow believers want freedom, respect, dignity, empowerment, he attacked a 14-year-old girl, now suffering from moderate (but unspecified) injuries; a 20-year-old man - possibly also in IDF uniform - now with light (but unspecified) injuries; and a man of 45 with wounds to his hand.

There were some initial reports that a second terrorist was involved and that he had fled the scene with a weapon belonging to one of the victims. Police have now confirmed that no weapon was taken, and there is no second suspect.

Life in the Triangle has been fraught for some time, and especially in the past few days as eruptions of passion for the acts of shooting and stabbing executed by Arabs in other parts of Israel appear to have captured the imagination of the locals:

[This past] Friday night was marked by widespread rioting in solidarity with Palestinians, and due to anger at the shooting a female terrorist across Arab towns in the north, Galilee, and the triangle area. Dozens of youths, some masked, set fires to tires and threw rocks at security forces in Nazareth, while large quantities of police were deployed to the scene. Multiple arrests were also reported in Sakhnin, while youths reportedly threw stones and clashed with police forces in Kfara Kanna.

Gan Shmuel Mall

Kibbutz Gan Shmuel was established in the early 1920's (when Um Al-Fahm had about 2,000 inhabitants) and has prospered [some history], particularly in export markets. A shopping mall now stands near the entrance to the kibbutz, attracting shoppers from the area and the highway.

Haaretz reported in the past half-hour (it's now 10:30 pm) that the attacker is Ala Raed Zyud, a 22-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm.

Incitement of Arabs to attack Israelis by means of their cars and knives has been evident for months.
