15-Nov-12: Status update 1:30pm Thursday

Briefly:
  • Israel's Channel 10 reports that there have been 150 firings into Israel since the start of the Pillar of Defence campaign yesterday, and 80 of those were intercepted in mid-air by the Iron Dome anti-missile system.
  • Numerous rocket attacks on southern Israel in the past hour (12 noon until 1:00 pm): Ashdod, Be'er Sheva, Ashkelon, Hof Ashkelon region, Zikim, Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, Bnei Shmon, Merhavim, Sdot Negev, Sha'ar Hanegev, Rahat, Netivot, Eshkol region. Details later.
  • Hamas claimed this morning (Thursday) that two of its Fajr-5 missiles hit Tel Aviv “for the first time since the Zionist occupation of Palestine”, and fortified the claims by giving precise times: 11:57 pm on Wednesday night and 9:20 am this morning. This was especially good news for consumers of what Hamas has to offer because, as Times of Israel noted, "the rockets launched were locally manufactured". Tel Aviv residents are said to be searching in their basements and local makolot (grocery stores) for signs of the made-in-Gaza Fajrs. So far, no one has claimed the prize.
