One report ["Soldiers foil stabbing at Kiryat Arba bus stop", Times of Israel, September 23, 2016] describes it as an attempted stabbing, and the assailant (according to Arab media reports) as a Palestinian Arab boy of about 14. There are no Israeli injuries but the attacker
was shot and seriously wounded. He received treatment on the scene, before being taken by military ambulance to a Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center for further medical care, the army said. The assailant suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and chest, according to a spokesperson for the hospital. Soldiers from the IDF’s Nahal Brigade, who were guarding the area, shot the Palestinian teenager, who has yet to be identified, as he approached the bus stop from an adjacent orchard, according to initial reports.
A photo from the scene appears to show the assailant wounded on the ground near some bushes behind the Elias Junction. There were unconfirmed reports of a second Palestinian suspect who was detained at the scene. An army spokesperson said the details of the incident were still being sorted out.
Israel National News says the intending stabber approached the hitchhiking point at Tzomet Elias (Elias Junction) from the back.
