29-Oct-15: Another knifing, another dead attacker, another life wasted

There was yet another stabbing attack in Hebron around 8 this morning. It's at least the eighth such attack on Israelis in that area by a Palestinian Arab armed with a knife since the start of October. (There have been dozens more in other parts of Israel.)

Haaretz says a Palestinian Arab approached Israel Defense Forces soldiers and -
stabbed a soldier in his head and attempted to stab a Border Police soldier who stood beside him. The Border Police soldier shot him and killed him. The soldier wounded in the attack serves in the Kfir Brigade, and was stationed in the area as part of reinforcement in light of the recent escalation in violence.
Israel National News is more precise about the location, saying it happened on the road connecting the Jewish community of Kiryat Arba with Hebron:
[T]he knife-wielding Arab terrorist, a 23-year-old resident of Hevron, approached a group of security forces whereupon he stabbed a soldier in the face. The soldier immediately recovered and pushed away the terrorist as he prepared to stab a Border Policeman standing nearby. The policeman then fired and eliminated the terrorist.
Times of Israel points out that the scene of the attack is close to the sacred and ancient Tomb of the Patriarchs. It's secured by an IDF presence at all hours of every day.

Meanwhile in their parallel universe, parts of the Arab media, in time-honored fashion, are engaged in turning events on their head: the sadly ludicrous "Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli forces because ‘he looks nice’" [Albawaba News] for instance, and the ideologically-conforming "Palestinian killed near Ibrahimi Mosque after soldier lightly injured" [Ma'an News Agency]. There's a story waiting to be crafted here, for journalists brave enough and sufficiently independent of crippling political correctness (know any?) to focus attention on the phenomenon, on the incitement-rich, and eventually self-damaging, practices of news channels like these.

The IDF soldier is now being treated for injuries to the head at Hadassah Medical Center hospital in Ein Karem, Jerusalem. We wish him a speedy and full recovery from his wounds.
