20-Dec-17: The Tomb of the Patriarchs: Another would-be stabber is intercepted in time

A Palestinian Arab armed with a knife was stopped today (Wednesday afternoon) around 4:00 pm at one of the security checkpoints that surround the ancient and sacred Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. He was promptly arrested.

The would-be stabber from the Arab town of Dahariya, 23 kilometers south of Hebron, aroused the suspicions of the Border Guard officers stationed at the checkpoint. They demanded he submit to a metal detector examination. It found a metal object hidden on his body.

The suspect then mysteriously declined a request by the officers to empty his pockets after the metal detector found what it found, and preferred instead to pull out and brandish the knife. The Border Guard men brought their powers of persuasion into play and convinced the Palestinian Arab man - by means of their quickly-raised weapons and well-focused words - to surrender before he was able to stab anyone.

The men with the guns could have killed him on the spot but chose instead to take him custody. No one was injured.

Under preliminary questioning, according to Israel National News, the gentleman under arrest agreed with his interrogators that he had come with his knife to "to carry out a terrorist attack against the officers".

UNESCO decided by a vote in July that the Tomb of the Patriarchs is a "Palestinian heritage site". Haaretz reported at the time that 12 states on its World Heritage Committee voted for the resolution and three voted against. The vote also recognized the site "as being in danger, meaning that each year UNESCO's World Heritage Committee will convene to discuss" its case.

It would be nice to think the UNESCO concern stemmed from the long line of stabbers and would-be stabbers who have targeted the ancient site for their murderous purposes. But our impression is they have not the slightest interest in Palestinian Arab violence and their influence on sites of cultural significance.

19-Dec-17: Uncovering some of Nabi Saleh's hideous buried secrets

Via Legal Insurrection
There's suddenly wide interest in the village of Nabi Saleh and the malevolent Tamimi clan who live there after a series of events during the past few days.

Typical of the way the affair is being covered in the mainstream media, here's the background as interpreted from London: "Palestinian girl arrested after troops 'slapped' in video" [BBC, today].

Our interest in the town and in the clan stems from the fact that one of the Tamimi women is the self-confessed-but-free murderer of our daughter, Malki. There's much we want to say.

Here below is an extract of a post we published two years ago on matters that even interested people are unlikely to know. That post is "01-Sep-15: A tale of two villages: one devoted to non-violence, another that actually exists".

* * *

Those who see only giants and heroes in that hateful little Palestinian Arab town [Nabi Saleh] probably share the view, typical of its kind, that asserts
the village is struggling for humanity, justice, peace and dignity, and... they need their freedom [via a far-left Israeli publication, yesterday]
But there are Arabic-language sources that tell us with far greater candor and clarity what really drives Nabi Saleh's Tamimis. Those Arabic texts naturally were never intended to be seen by people like us and those who read our posts.

But web tools make them easy to find.

Take for example Wikipedia's Arabic-language entry on Nabi Saleh. As we wrote here on Saturday night, someone doctored the Wikipedia text shortly after we first publicized it. Every reference to the village people's adoration of jihad, martyrdom and death to the Israelis was then erased.

But this past weekend, we found the original Arabic text as it had appeared on Wikipedia in May 2013. We saved the original Arabic text to here, and a partial English translation to here. They are archived now thanks to the wonders of the Internet, and safe (we think) from the destructive attentions of those who feel compelled to re-invent the past.

That deleted Wikipedia text is the village of Nabi Saleh paying tribute to its own viciously violent true self: to its warriors, to its killers, to its dead fighters, and above all to its favourite daughter, the one who smiles on-camera when she recalls how many innocent Jewish children she blew to pieces in the Sbarro pizzeria, our daughter Malki among them.

Virtually everyone in Nabi Saleh is a member of the Tamimi clan. That includes our daughter's murderer and the murderer's husband who is also her cousin - and also a convicted murder of Jews. And also freed in the catastrophic Shalit Deal [in 2011]. (They now live in Amman, Jordan). And also a hero of those self-proclaimed peace-loving, non-violent villagers.

UPDATE: December 20, 2017: An alert reader (hat-tip ELEA) points out that the JumpShare link above which used to show the English translation of the now-wiped earlier edition of the Arabic Wikipedia page about Nabi Saleh is gone. Since there isn't much time available to us today, the easiest solution for now is to simply copy-paste the Google Translate translation into English of the Wikipedia Arabic text. So here it is, unedited and fresh from the translation machine:

The translation was done by machine and yes, there are lots of mistakes. But it's not hard to get the sense they wanted to convey.

You can probably see that the focus on a warrior past doesn't fit all that wonderfully well with the more recent efforts to depict Nabi Saleh as a bastion of non-violent "resistance". Which probably explains why all of the text above has been erased from where it originally appeared.

18-Dec-17: Sunday night Gazan rockets seek Israeli targets again

Source
If you follow our Twitter account, you may know we tweeted last night (Sunday) just before 9 o'clock Jerusalem time about inbound rocket warnings being heard in southern Israel again.

In the hours that followed, it emerged that three rockets were fired by terrorists in the rocket-rich Gaza Strip at anything Israeli (they don't care). Two struck ground in the Hof Ashkelon region. A third failed to get across the border and as with so many, fell short on Hamas-controlled territory. Did it kill or maim any Palestinian Arabs living in the Gaza Strip? Did it destroy or damage a school, an ambulance, a hospital? It's unlikely we will ever know unless Israeli intelligence picks up the details and reports it. The Hamas regime in Gaza will not. When it comes to their Fell Shorts , they don't want anyone to know.

According to Times of Israel, quoting Israel Police, one of the rockets crash-landed and exploded in an un-named Israeli community (last night on Israel's Channel 10 news, Moshav Netiv Ha'asara was suggested as the site). The other crashed into an open field nearby. Reports at this stage say there are no injuries to people and relatively small property damage to an Israeli residence.

The same report says
It was not immediately clear why the missiles were not intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, an army spokesperson said.
The rocket men of Gaza certainly sought a larger return on their investment and fortunately were denied it this time. There is not the slightest doubt they will keep trying. They will invent justifications for public relations purposes but the reality is they will keep doing this until they are stopped. At this stage, the only way they will be stopped involves the IDF and selective, well-directed force.

17-Dec-17: Two Arab-on-Israeli terror attacks; both involve bombs

The heavily secured entrance to the Samaria Military Court where this
morning's attack was thwarted [Archive Image Source]
Far from the attention of the army of foreign reporters prowling our country for stories, Israeli alertness has thwarted a couple of especially hair-raising attacks by Palestinian Arab zealots intent on murder at any price, including their own lives. Both incidents involve bombs.

First this morning (Sunday). Times of Israel's account ["Palestinian arrested outside West Bank military court with suspected bomb", today] says a Palestinian Arab, still unidentified at this early stage, tried to make his way into one of Israel's military courts while wearing some prohibited underwear.

He was stopped by on-duty Border Guard officers on arriving at the entrance to the Samaria Military Court (we think the one in Salim, in Israel's Jezreel Valley) with what appears - no one is certain yet - a bomb strapped to his body. It's a gorgeous early winter day, not cold, very sunny, and he was wearing an overcoat. One of the police required him to remove the coat, and the murderous thing concealed inside it it became evident.

Sappers are working to defuse the suspected explosive device as we write this. The court's entrance is now closed.

Notwithstanding those vague media reports appearing from time to time that Palestinian Arab terrorists have discontinued their fixation with body-mounted bombs and other forms of murderous self-immolation, a social media commentator posted this morning (in Hebrew) that there have been at least two very similar previous attacks by bombers this year, one on May 24 and one of October 15 (reported here), at the very same location.

Two days ago (Friday), a Palestinian Arab in another attack involving the Border Guard part of Israel's police, this time in the Arab town of Al-Bireh (population around 40,000), ran full-pelt towards the Israelis while brandishing a knife. As well armed as the police undoubtedly were, they held off doing the obvious - firing at the man with the very clear intentions - until he was upon them. He managed to stab one of the Israeli Border Guard men in the upper part of his body.

He was wearing what the media are calling "a suicide vest". It's not clear whether the "suicide" device involved actual explosives or the mere appearance of them. Colleagues of the stabbed police officer, fearing he would explode and caused still more injuries, shot him. (It's captured on a graphic piece of video here.) He is now dead.

The Palestinian Authority health ministry, often the source for details about terrorists and their injuries, says the deceased attacker is named Mohammed Aqal, 29.

As the AFP photo above makes plain, whether or not the knife-man had a working bomb under his jacket, he plainly wanted people to think he did. He also, it appears, wanted to seem to be a reporter according to this stunning article ["Police: Palestinian who stabbed border guard pretended to be a journalist", Times of Israel, today]

His injured victim is now in Jerusalem's Shaarei Zedek Medical Center where the official report issued this morning (Sunday) is, according to Ynet, that his condition is thankfully improving and he is now said to be in moderate condition.
