Because of our observing the traditional Jewish calendar and the festival of Sukkot (Tabernacles), we're late to report what has gone essentially
unreported in the mainstream media:
"Warning sirens sounded in southern Israel overnight Wednesday — the first night of the Sukkot festival — as a Kassam rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip. Residents south of Ashkelon reported hearing a blast just before 2 a.m. local time. Officials initially suspected that the rocket had landed inside Gazan territory, but police forces found the exploded Kassam with daylight in an agricultural area in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. There were no injuries or damage reported." [Times of Israel]
The beleagured
Hof Ashkelon region, home to about 13,000 residents and adjacent to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, encompasses 19 communities, including five kibbutzim, eleven moshavim, two communal settlements and a youth village.
