2-Mar-13: Report reveals Huffington Post's doublespeak on terrorism and its victims

From HuffWatch's scathing report
The Huffington Post is
an American news website, content aggregator and blog founded by Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lerer, Andrew Breitbart and Jonah Peretti, featuring columnists and various news sources. The site offers news, blogs, and original content and covers politics, business, entertainment, environment, technology, popular media, lifestyle, culture, comedy, healthy living, women's interests and local news. The Huffington Post was launched on May 9, 2005 as a liberal/left commentary outlet and alternative to news aggregators such as the Drudge Report. On February 7, 2011, AOL acquired the mass market Huffington Post for US$315 million, making Arianna Huffington editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group. In 2012, The Huffington Post became the first commercially run, United States digital media enterprise to win a Pulitzer Prize. In July 2012, The Huffington Post was ranked #1 on the 15 Most Popular Political Sites list... [Source: Wikipedia]
Successful it may be, but the editorial line taken by Huffington Post on terrorism, and in particular the jihadist version that has brought so much bitterness to lives lived in our part of the world, seems quite odd. From our occasional visits, its clear that it attracts some especially obnoxious contributors and participants.

With Islamist terrorism in mind, the independent HuffWatch site has now published a critical analysis that looks at editorial decisions taken at Huffington Post during specific periods. The resulting report includes a close-up look at what Huffington Post's category-leading journalists did and did not cover when it comes to Israeli children like our daughter Malki whose rights and lives were cruelly abridged in the name of jihad.

The HuffWatch special report is called "HuffPost gives super-coverage to "homesick" jihadi - and continues ignoring victims of jihad" [here]. In their introduction, the HuffWatch people reveal how the Huffington Post:
Gives blaring, graphic, top-line treatment to jihadis and Palestinians who are killed or meet with misfortune [but] downplays or ignores the victims and survivors of jihadis' murderous attacks Four examples, from our extensive archives, of how HuffPost (a) gives blaring, graphic, top-line treatment to jihadis and Palestinians who are killed or meet with misfortune, and (b) downplays or ignores the victims and survivors of jihadis' murderous attacks:
(1) HuffPost buried, then quickly removed the story of a seven-year-old girl who was targeted and murdered by a jihadi - then completely ignored her massively-attended funeral.
(2) HuffPost did not publish a single story on its front page concerning two jihadis' slaughter of the Fogel family – and completely ignored their massively-attended funeral.
(3) HuffPost showed no sympathy whatsoever to the parents of Malki Roth, in their efforts to stop the release of her jihadi murderer.
(4) HuffPost buried the story of Hamas's murder of Yitzhak and Talya Imes deep on the World page - then completely ignored the funeral for them.
