Gazan terrorists shot a rocket and three mortar shells at Israel early Thursday morning, marking a third straight day of projectile fire after several months of calm. Initial reports indicated that the rocket landed in an open area in the Eshkol region, as did one of the mortar rounds. Two of the shells fired failed to cross the fence into Israel and landed in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. There were no reports of injuries or damage.From other sources, we understand the attacks this morning took place around 1:45 am.
Notice once again that two of the three shells failed to cross the border and hit some something Israeli. Associated Press says they "exploded prematurely". In simple terms, they crashed into Gazan home territory, what we call fell shorts. See 18-Nov-12: Fell short? Not just the Hamas rockets but the ethics of the journalists covering them.
The extraordinary thing about fell-shorts is they are almost never reported upon - not by the Arab side which is interested only and exclusively in depicting its people as victims of the Israelis; not by the Israeli side, which usually has no reliable information about casualties since there is no information sharing by Hamas; and not by the major news agencies since they routinely discount Arab-on-Arab attacks and losses for reasons about which we can speculate.
