11-Oct-07: Reacting to 7 more frustrated mass-murders

Israel's security fence is said by the International Court of Justice in The Hague to be illegal. It imposes movement and access restrictions on the Palestinian Arabs. And as the bishops of Exeter, Winchester and Coventry helpfully pointed out very recently, it's "a segregation barrier" whose effect is to "cut Palestinians off from farmland and water supplies". Furthermore Israel's army checkpoints degrade, delay and demoralize the Palestinian Arabs who pass through them.

Whether the criticisms are justified or not, the real problem with Israel's security barrier and with Israel's anti-terror measures is that by and large they are effective.
The security forces thwarted seven suicide bombings in Israel in the last month-and-a-half, Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin told the cabinet Sunday. Diskin said that the ongoing efforts of the IDF, the Shin Bet and the police were behind the apparent calm in the country recently.
Were these seven frustrated bombings reported in your local media? Did your politicians hear about them? Did your media analysts or reporters know about them? Did you see any news pictures or video of the seven individuals, or of the hundreds of helpers and planners who keep those acts of terror coming? If you knew those terrorists were on their way to your school or shopping centre, what would you do? What would you demand of the authorities in your community?

The constant, escalating terror attacks on our lives and yours are the reason we gave the name to our blog that we did.

I believe the answer to your questions is that in my community every possible thing would be done to stop the terrorists. The hypocrisy which is applied to Israeli self defence is obvious to anyone who looks.
